Gertrud Antoine was born in Germany in 1931, moved to Canada in 1959 and has resided in Quebec for the past forty years.

First educated in Textile Design at the Academy of Fine Arts in Kiel, Germany, Gertrud Antoine now holds a BFA and MA in Art Education and Art Therapy, as well as a PH.D in Counselling Psychology.  After twenty-five years of teaching art, German, and Psychology, she now devotes most of her time to volunteer work at the hospital, and to her art.

Antoine’s playful use of colour is greatly influenced by her mentor Ming Ma (Hong Kong) a pioneer of colour brilliance in watercolour.  Already an established watercolorist, Antoine continues to explore new mediums and techniques.

Her recent collages engage the imagination with bewitching colour poetics and original composition.

Her works of art can be found in numerous private as well as corporate collections in Canada, USA, Germany, and France.
